All Is Fine in '89

COMEDY THRILLER / 4K / ENGLISH / 100 MIN
ALL IS FINE IN ’89 is a coming-of-age feature film that shines a light on an America transitioning from the excessive 1980’s to a post-Reagan 1990’s. The film follows the intersecting lives of 4 students and 2 teachers at Romano High, set on the day the Berlin Wall was torn down. It’s the last field party of the decade…and for some, the last party of their lives.

Paying homage to John Hughes’ classic ‘80’s coming-of-age films and evergreen classics such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused, ALL IS FINE IN ’89 is a relatable story of high-schoolers transitioning from the safe confines of the hallways to the scary uncertainties of the real world – from kids to adults. Their transition mirrors that of the America they live in – the colorful, patriotic Reagan-fueled 1980’s USA moving away to a Bush-led, post-Cold War 1990’s. The times are certainly changing…

Mark is the boy-next-door – excited to reach first base with his high-school crush and take their relationship to the next level, but tormented by his school bully: Cole, the jock who’s deeply repressing his sexuality in a time – and household – where there are little other options; Linda is the girl in trouble – secretly pregnant, stuck in an abusive household and nowhere to turn to, except to: Mrs. Applewood – everyone’s favorite teacher and the mother figure to them all, but with a dark crush on the school’s popular boy: Dean – the kid who seemingly always has pocket Aces as his hand and the definition of cool, loved by all but one lonely teacher: Mr. Parker – the man who never got invited or accepted anywhere and is looking for that one last chance to go to the party…

ALL IS FINE IN ’89 explores the complexities, the thrills, the good, the bad, and the downright ugly of a time period in transition, through the lens of memorable characters and an unforgettable field party where truths are revealed and lives are forever changed.
